On June 26, Bucks County entered into the Green Phase of Gov. Wolf’s Reopening Plan. Our English Ministry Leadership Team has been prayerfully preparing to safely reopen BCPC for English Ministry Sunday Service. We consider it our responsibility to be as cautious as possible in the early phases of reopening, to minimize risk wherever possible, and to provide a safe worship environment. We wanted to share with you our detailed plan in the hopes that you can make an informed decision about attending an in-person service.

Our plan is to have our first in-person service on Sunday, July 12 at 10AM in the small sanctuary. Note that the KM (Korean congregation) will start in-person service on July 5. If you have any concerns or health issues, we strongly recommend you remain at home. We will still provide a recording of the message that will be available on Sunday morning. We are also planning to live-stream the Sunday service, giving two options for those choosing to worship with us from home.

Communication is vitally important. We want to have an open line of communication with our church members. We wanted there to be enough time between sharing our reopening plan and our first service so that you would have the opportunity to ask any questions or share any concerns you may have. Please take a careful look at the information below, and do not hesitate to contact us at any point.

What you need to know before July 12:

  • There is a survey at the bottom of this page that will help us coordinate our pre-registration process.
  • Based on our surveys, we plan to ask you to PRE-REGISTER for the service. Based on social distancing calculations, we will be allowing a max of 20 people in the small sanctuary. Pre-registration helps us effectively plan for social distancing in the small sanctuary, and it will help us rotate members if we have more than 20 interested in attending.
      • We will not have space for anyone who does not pre-register.
  • We will also require a Waiver Form to be filled out after your pre-registration has been confirmed.
  • Our nursery room will be closed during the first phase of reopening. Members will only be allowed access to bathrooms and the two sanctuaries to be used for worship. All other areas and rooms will be restricted.
  • There will be no Education programs such as youngest preschool, elementary, and youth group. If you want to bring your family to service, then upon pre-registration we will seat you together in the small sanctuary. We advise that no children younger than elementary school age be brought to church for the time being. (Again masks will be required even for children and teenagers.)
  • We ask everyone to maintain six feet of social distancing.
  • We will have hand sanitizer and extra masks available. Masks will be required the entire time you are at church.
  • We will not have food before or after the service.
  • Again if you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to Pastor Peter or Elder Larry Kye.

Sunday Service: (what you can expect and need to know about attending service)

  • After pre-registration, you will be sent an electronic waiver form that must be signed before attending service. On the form will be a set of pre-screening health questions. Again, if you are experiencing any symptoms of sickness (covid-related or not), please remain at home.
  • Seating will follow social distancing protocol. Pre-registering will be required.
  • Masks will be required. We will not be taking temperature checks at the door.
  • Parking Lot: Park wherever you want. We suggest that you park in front of the medical office since we will be using the side entrance door. We will also have signs posted.
  • Entrance: Do not enter through the main lobby. The KM will be having worship in the main sanctuary at 10AM. The KM will use the main doors and the main lobby. The EM will use the side door entrance to reach the small sanctuary. This will limit hallway traffic and group clustering.
  • We will have an usher check for masks and make sure that you have pre-registered and filled out the waiver form at the side entrance door. We plan to prop open the door (weather permitting) to limit contact exposure.
  • Restrooms will be located right outside of the small sanctuary. The restrooms can allow for max 2 people at a time. We ask that you be mindful of others when using the restrooms.
  • The church will undergo thorough cleaning before the service.
  • There will be an Offering Box in the hallway before entering the small sanctuary. You may also continue to use our online giving platform found at www.bcpcem.org/give
  • Because masks will be required, we will be keeping the AC on during service. We will also keep the windows and doors slightly opened to allow for fresh cycling of air.
  • The Order of Worship will be modified to limited singing in the earliest phases of reopening.
  • No paper bulletins will be provided.
  • Please note that those leading the service (Pastor Peter and Alex Kim) will not wear a mask during service. The pulpit will be reconfigured on the stage in the small sanctuary to be as far away as possible.
  • Again, if you are showing any symptoms of sickness or are generally considered in the at-risk category, please stay home.

During the Week:

  • Pre-registration will help us keep track of attendance which in the unfortunate event that someone tests positive for covid, we have an accurate way to conduct contact tracing to further protect our members.
  • Please contact our EM Leadership if you get sick or test positive for covid.
  • Our leaders will also continue to follow-up with attendees each week.

Future Phases:

  • We will continue to closely monitor our local government and health officials for guidance.
  • Our desire is to be overly cautious in the earliest stages of reopening.
  • We want to continue to slowly reopen different parts of our church’s ministry, but there still remains the possibility that we will from time to time be forced to “move backwards” depending on circumstances in our church and in our area.

“16 So we do not lose heart. Though our outer self is wasting away, our inner self is being renewed day by day. 17 For this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison.”

(2 Corinthians 4:16-17)
